The Lower Saxony science portal “Wissen hoch N” now features an article on research at L3S about the effects of social media on the perception of climate change.
Social media plays a major role in everyday life, especially for young people. But how does content on climate change influence our thoughts and actions? And what effects do phenomena such as echo chambers, filter bubbles, and fake news have? As little is known about these effects, researchers at Leibniz University Hannover and the L3S Research Center investigate which skills are relevant to the use of social media and how these can be promoted. They develop methods of analysis using artificial intelligence and new teaching materials. Alexander Büssing and Ivana Marenzi present their results and tools in the magazine TI and now also on Wissen hoch N.
