Simon Gottschalk has been a research group leader at the L3S Research Center since November 2022. One research focus in his research group is the semantic representation of data in knowledge graphs in order to learn from and apply this knowledge. In addition, his group is researching the development of machine learning models on spatiotemporal data, for example, to answer questions in the area of mobility.
Previously, Simon Gottschalk worked at the L3S Research Center since 2015 and completed his PhD there in April 2021 on the topic of “Creation, enrichment and application of knowledge graphs”. In different projects during his time as a PhD student and subsequently, as a postdoctoral researcher, he has conducted research on web archives, multilingual analysis of events, and the development and application of event-based knowledge graphs, among other things, including the creation of the EventKG knowledge graph. He has also led the Simple-ML project to facilitate the development of machine learning workflows.
