ReNew
Recursive Norm Building in the German Energy Transition. The Changing Energy Supply
The ReNew project aims to analyse the normative foundations of the German energy sector in its transition towards decentralised and renewable energy production. The project examines the changes brought about by the Renewable Energy Sources Act, the Fukushima disaster and the digitalisation of the energy sector. The aim is to provide a stable foundation for the new energy regime by examining ongoing value conflicts and the re-specification of normative expectations by energy providers and other stakeholders. The project uses the concepts of recursivity and re-specification to understand the contested process of constituting a new normative order for the German energy transition. The project uses interviews and content analysis of legal documents and organisational materials in its three sub-projects, which focus on the legal system, the organisational field and energy providers.
