Since joining L3S in October 2021, Apoorva Upadhyaya has focused her research on analyzing social networks and their impact on pressing global issues such as climate change, violence, and natural disasters. 🚀
Collaborating with Prof. Wolfgang Nejdl, Dr. Marco Fisichella, Dr. Ivana Marenzi, and Oleh A. as a part of SoMeCliCS project, the team conducted several pilot studies at German schools to explore students’ opinions on climate change. 🤝 In addition to these studies, they have developed cutting-edge AI methods to analyze public perception of climate change using X (Twitter) data. This impactful work has been showcased at top-tier AI conferences, including EMNLP, IJCAI, ACM Web Conf, ICWSM, CIKM and others.
