Dr Johannes Winter, Chief Strategy Officer at L3S, and Dr Daniel Kudenko, Group Leader and Senior Researcher at L3S, have been appointed to an advisory panel of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CNECT). They are among 15 experts in the Artificial Intelligence Focus Group who will advise the EU on the strategic development of Deep Tech and AI over the next six months.
The appointment comes at a crucial time, with the Digital Europe programme due to expire in 2027. The European Commission is currently gathering input from experts and stakeholders to shape the strategic roadmap for digital investment in the next programming period (2028-2034). The findings will help identify the key areas of investment for the EU and shape the future of digital funding in the next Multiannual Financial Framework.
Taking part in the consultation process, Winter and Kudenko have the opportunity to help shape Europe’s future digital landscape. “We are delighted to be able to contribute L3S’s AI expertise at the highest level. Through the European Digital Innovation Hub DAISEC, we also know the needs of business and the public sector in our region and can prepare our partners and customers for the European AI trends of the future at an early stage,” says Kudenko.
